Collective Rendition of “Vande Mataram” Marks 150 Years at Bhatkhande Sanskriti University

Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow, reverberated with patriotic fervour as it celebrated the 150th anniversary of India’s immortal national song “Vande Mataram.” The event, held at the university’s Rai Umanath Bali Auditorium, was organised in accordance with directives from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The collective singing ceremony paid tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, who composed Vande Mataram in 1875 — a song that went on to become a timeless symbol of India’s freedom movement and cultural pride.

As the melodious strains of “Vande Mataram” filled the auditorium, the atmosphere turned deeply emotional and charged with patriotism. Faculty members, students, and staff joined in a unified voice, creating a stirring moment that reflected the spirit of national unity, devotion, and pride.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh graced the event with her presence and lauded the significance of the day, emphasising the song’s role in awakening India’s national consciousness. Heads of departments, professors, teachers, and students participated enthusiastically in the mass rendition.

Participants pledged to uphold the values embodied in Vande Mataram and to contribute towards the progress and unity of the nation. The event stood as a powerful reminder of India’s cultural heritage and the enduring resonance of Bankim Chandra’s immortal creation.
